13 days tour from Marrakech to Sahara desert
Atlas mountains - Kasbhas - Sahara dunes - valleys - off road adventure
Day1: Marrakech - Kasbah Telouet - Aït Benhaddou - Ouarazazte
Departure from Marrakech crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi N'Tichka pass. We will leave the main road and travel through the Ounila valley where we will stop to visit Kasbah Telouet, once a grand palace of the Glaoui. Kasbah Aït Benhaddou is our next stop for a visit. This amazing location is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the setting where many movies were filmed. We will continue our road to the city of Ouarzazate where we will spend our first night in a hotel.
Day 2: Ouarzazate - Rose Valley - Boutaghrar - Dades Gorges
Ouarzazate, the cinema capital, Morocco's answer to Hollywood, has several film studios, you will have the option to visit one. Then we will visit Skoura oasis and the Valley of Roses are our next stops as we travel the route of a thousand kasbahs to arrive the Dades gorge for the evening's accommodation. The night spent will be in a hotel with a Berber family.
Day3: Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges
As the breathtaking Dades Gorge starts to penetrate the Atlas Mountains, our travels take us through Boutaghrar and we will continue the tour to reach the Todgha Tinghir in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, the night will be spent at a hotel.
Day 4: Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga
Today we are leaving Todgha Gorge for our destination to Merzouga. Our route takes us through the city of Erfoud in the fertile ZIZ valley (a city known for its fabrication for fossils), then the town of Rissani, the economic centre of the region and the city known by its souk and its Alawite monuments and kasbahs. Lunch will be a local meal called Medfouna, a rich spiced Berber pizza. After finishing the souk visits we will continue to Merzouga desert, our plan is to watch the sunset on the dunes of Erg Chebbi (22km long north to south and 5 km east to west) and the night will be in a camp at the foot of the dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga - Erg Chebbi - Visit Nomads
After breakfast we will tour the dunes by 4×4 to visit the tents of nomads in the desert. A visit to the village of Khamlia, who inhabitants are descended from the black Sudanese slaves, to watch them dance and perform typical music of the Gnawa from the south. Afterwards we go to visit the lake which has a seasonal flock of pink flamingos and the black desert (5 km from Merzouga) and finally arrive at Merzouga. In the afternoon we will take the camels to spend the night in nomadic tents in the middle of the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Day 6: Merzouga - Rock engravings in Taouz - Ouzina Village
After breakfast we will depart from Merzouga and pass through a village called Begaa on our way to visit the rock engravings of Taouz. We will continue on the off road track to reach the village of Ouzina. The night will be in a hotel next to the Ouzina dunes.
Day 7: Ouzina - Oubahallou Oasis - Oasis M´harech
The begining from Ouzina oasis we will travel through Oubahallou to arrive at the end of the day in M'harech Oasis, which is near the small village of Tafraoute, to visit the tents of nomads in the desert.
Day 8: M'harech - Zagora
From M'harech to Zagora on the off-road adventure located in the Draa Valley.
Day 9: Zagora - Tamagroute - Chegaga.
We will leave Zagora and travel south to visit the village of Tamegroute, known for the magnificent library founded in the 17th century, you can see the illuminated manuscripts of the Koran written on gazelle skin and also works of history and medicine. The distinctive green glazed pottery is also from here. The night will be in Chegaga desert.
Day 10: Chegaga - Agdez
We will exit from the Chegaga desert in the direction of the oasis of Foum Zguid and Imi n-Ouasif, passing very beautiful villages in Jbeln'Zourk, oasis and desert landscapes on the road towards Taznakht to reach the town of Agdez in the Draa Valley.
Day 11: Agdez - Oasis Fint - Ouarzazate
Leaving Agdez, we will take the route for Ouarzazate via the Oasis of Fint where we can stop to visit and take a walk through the oasis and have breakfast with a local family.
Day 12: Ouarzazate - Marrakech
Leave Ouarzazate and back to Marrakech via the pass of Tizi n-Tichka.
Day 13: Marrakech
The last day of the tour, we have a cultural visit of the red city ( Marrakech ), you can visit the beautiful Majorelle Gardens, explore the Medina, Koutoubia and the Saadian tombs. The afternoon dedicated to visit the famous Jamaa el-Fna square, souks and see a thousand colours.
